Sam McGhee
Currently a Police Command Officer, Sam has been in law enforcement for over 28 years. Sam has held assignments in Media Relations, Homeland Security, Patrol, SWAT, Training, Drug Enforcement, and Internal Affairs.
As Sam progressed through his experiences as a supervisor and manager, he became aware that he wasn't always successful at achieving the results he was seeking through his staff.
Vowing to become a positive influence in peoples' lives, he committed to being a student of effective leadership. He is particularly interested in the resiliency to change that some organizations and individuals have. Sam believes that the acceleration of change is an opportunity for exponential growth for individuals, teams, and organizations. He has learned that creating an atmosphere, which capitalizes on the organization’s greatest asset – the energy, expertise and talents of the staff – will develop the natural leadership abilities we all possess. This, in turn, builds trust and reduces or eliminates fear. The result is buy-in for achieving the organization’s goals and a focus on results.
Sam has gained unique insights into human behavior through his thousands of conversations, interviews and experiences while being a leader in a large metro area police department, and has focused on learning simple yet powerful tenets that play critical roles in determining one’s ability to create desired outcomes, whether at home or in the workplace. Because he is a practicing leader, he is able to apply various theories to determine real-world application, testing for effectiveness and outcomes.
Sam believes effective leadership can be threatening to the status-quo mind set.
Sam thrives on sharing the transformational lessons he has learned by conducting his leadership workshops, personal coaching and speaking engagements. He reveals these tools and principles not by giving more information (we have enough information!), but through experiential learning that brings people to the fundamental truth about themselves, transforming limiting behaviors into powerful, supporting convictions that produce results.
